It is traditional for soup to be eaten in Jamaica on a Saturday.
Ingredients:
Red Kidney Beans (dried or canned)
Ham Hock (or cooking bacon)
Garlic
Red Chili Pepper
Fresh Thyme
Spring Onions
3 ozs Plain Flour
Potatoes
Carrots
Salt
Black Pepper
Coconut Cream
2 tablespoons Cornmeal
Directions
Put kidney beans, ham hock, garlic, red chili and thyme into a large pot add water bring to boil and simmer until kidney beans are tender. Add quarter of the block coconut cream, spring onion, black pepper and salt to taste. Take plain flour add a teaspoon of salt and the cornmeal mix with water until it forms a bread like dough. Form into small balls and add to the soup, add peeled potatoes and carrots, when tender soup is ready. The longer you cook it the better it tastes.
